The first ever fly in was wildly successful. A large gathering of air modeler enthusiasts from as far away as Florida came out to fly as well as some local clubs. A special thanks to Adam Herrera who came out to see what the buzz was all about and wrote a story in the Douglas Budget, our local newspaper. Thanks to everyone who showed up on Sunday and helped us remove all the debris and get the field ready for the fly in. The lawn tractor is repaired and the field is looking great!
We will be meeting one week later in July, due to the 4th of July holiday. Same time, same location, but please note the new date of July 11th. The 50/50 raffle will continue in July... Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. Winner receives 50% of the proceeds and the club will retain the other half.
Club members will be representing CCF at the 2012 Jackalope Days festival in downtown Douglas. There will be several planes on display and membership applications will be available.
The highlight will be the club raffle, featuring the following items:
- Brand new, 100% Ready-To-Fly Super Cub trainer. Includes all electronics, transmitter/receiver and battery. Approximate retail value of this plane is $100.
- Blade McX Ready-To-Fly helicopter. Includes transmitter, receiver, batteries. Approximate value of this helicopter is $80.
- One year CCF membership and three months prepaid AMA membership/insurance. Approximate value of this prize is $75.
Tickets are only $5 and can be purchased from club members at the festival. Come out, have some food, listen to some live music, and support your local aircraft modelers club!
As summer approaches we have some exciting things going on in our little club.
Starting in June we will be running 50/50 raffles at each club meeting. It's a great opportunity for you to support the club and win some cash!
Here's how it works:
Tickets will be sold throughout the meeting. The tickets will cost $5 each, or 5 tickets for $20.
During the meeting we will announce the value of the pot and take a last call for tickets.
The winner will receive 50% of the total value sold, and the club will keep the other 50%.
We will be taking bids at the June meeting for an ARF Biplane kit generously donated by Bob. The plane will be on display throughout the meeting and at Jackalope days. The kit will be sold to the highest bidder at the conclusion of the Jackalope days festival.
Finally, we will have an opportunity for club members to advance purchase Jackalope Days raffle tickets. These are also $5 and there are some great prizes available:
- RTF Super Cub electric trainer
- RTF Blade McX helicopter
- Free club dues for a year and an introductory three month AMA membership
The field has been rolled and is much easier to taxi on. Don and Andy have installed signs along with trash cans and are working on the stands. Keelan and Scott have installed a weather station to give us an up to the minute report of the field conditions.
